Sport Relief Mile held at SALSAL |
|
On Sunday, March 16th, over 300 local residents (and a few of their pets) went the distance for Sport Relief by being sponsored to run 1, 3 or 6 miles around our playing fields. The cold temperature and wind failed to dampen the spirits of the miles, who were cheered on by friends and family.
Event organiser, Rod Crowe said "Sport Relief 2008 was all about challenging yourself, friends and family to do something sporty to raise money, and I was thrilled with the response we had from the local community, they really rose to the challenge. Everyone had a great time and I would like to thank all those who ran to raise money for such a worthy cause". The event attended by Cllr Andrew and Mrs Louise Hirst, raised thousands of pounds for Sport Relief, which will help make a huge difference to people's lives through Comic Relief projects both in the UK and abroad.
